I think that because if those other people had known it was Hermes and Zeus knocking at their door they would have acted completely different.
4. The reward that Hermes offers to the couple is anything that they want.

5. Philemon's two wishes are that his house becomes a temple and that he and Baucis die at the same time.

6. The type of metamorphois in this story was to disguise. It was to diguise because if everybody knew that the two people were actually gods then they would be bowing down and giving them everything they had. So in order to make the experiment be truthful, they had to be disguised as ordinary people.

7. The main lesson about this story is that you should be hospitable and you will be rewarded. What the greeks learned from this lesson to be hospitable to everybody. This lesson is still important today because it will make people get along and be as one.

8. In today's world, we treat strangers with distrust and hostility. We treat them this way because we fear that they are bad people who will steal from them and harm them. I think that if Zeus and Hermes went in our neighborhoods like that then they would not find a hospitable person anywhere

9. I do not know anybody who are like Baucis and Philemon.

10. The theme of this story is genorous people will be rewarded. Genorous people like Baucis and Philimon are very rare. It is important to be genorous not only because you will be rewarded but because it will help others. The old couple was genorous and was hospitable so then they got any wish that they wanted. Plus, they got to still live a very happy and long life with each other. In this story it is made obvious that you should treat others with kindness even if it means giving everything that you have.
1.
3. How does the old couple please the gods?

They are very welcoming and don't ask for anything in return.

4. What reward does Hermes offer?

He says they can become Imortal.

5. What are Philemon’s two wishes? In what ways do they come true?

To die together and to have their house become a place of worship. The gods made them come true.

7. The ancient myths were meant to teach lessons about how to behave. What lessons do you think the Greeks learned from this story? Are those lessons still important today? Why or why not?

Not to be greedy was the main lesson, we still use this today in all life.

2. Bausic and Philemon realized that the to men were gods because when the wine was gone and Philemon went to go fetch some more, but when he returned it was full again.

3. This old couple pleases the gods by showing hospitality to the gods.

4. Hermes offers a wish of their choice.

5. Philemon's two wishes are to turn the cottage into a temple where all the gods could rest and for him and his wife to die on the same hour. These came true because they stood at the temple when they both disapeared.

6. Some metamorphios in this story are when they gods change from human into god.Another one is when the cotage went from a one room cottage to a temple for all gods to rest. when the gods turned from human to gods that purpose was to tell the old couple they were gods. When the cottage changed into a temple that was showing that the couploe was to be rewarded.

7. I think this myth taught to be kind to everyone. I don't think this myth is still important today because you should treat others how you want to be treated.

8. Today we treat strangers different because we don't know what they would do. I think we treat strangers differently because they could be a killer or a thief. I think that the gods would be treated just how they were in the beginning of the story when they couldn't find anywhere to stay.

9. I don't know people like Baucis or Philemon that would be willing to do that.

10. If you're generous it will pay off. Like in this myth Baucis and Philmon are rewarded for hosting to strangers. They didn't know that the strangers were acually gods. And even their wish was generous by changing their house into a temple for hosting gods. I don't think that a lot of people would have done that.
1.The two gods, come down to Earth to see if people are obeying the law, being hospital

2. Baucis and Philemon realize the strangers are gods when they set out a basket of fruit. No matter how much they would eat, the bowl would never become empty

3. The old couple pleases the gods by showing so much hospitality for others, even though the gods were disguised as strangers.

4. Hermes offers the reward of wishing for anything in the world.

5. Baucis and Philemon's two wishes were to die at the same moment and to serve the gods in a very nice home. In the end of the story they slowly walk away from the house to gaze at it's beautiful sight, when all of the sudden the come to be entangled trees.

6. In this story metamorphoses is a disguise. Zeus and Hermes disguise as strangers to make sure people are being hospital.

7. I think the lesoon in this story is to always be hospital to others, even if they're strangers.

8. I think a lot of people would think the strangers were weirdos and not want to be hospital because over time different eras come up with new ideas which sparks greed and selfishness.

9. A couple I know that are like Baucis and Philemon is a couple across the street, Mrs. Terry and Mr.Chuck. They are similar to Baucis and Philemon because they are very hospital to others, and also very genorous and kind.

10. I think the moral in this story is generous people will be rewarded because Baucis and Philemon were so generous to the gods by giving them their week's supply of food. In return they received a wish, they could wish for anything in the world. In that case it shows that generous people (Baucis and Philemon) will be rewarded ( The wishes).
1. The two gods, Hermes and Zeus, came down to Earth to see if everyone was being kind and hospitable like they were supposed to act.

2. When Baucis and Philemon see the wine magically refilled, they realize that the strangers were gods.

3. The old couple pleased the gods by being hospitable and letting ‘’the strangers’’ into their home, while also serving the best food they could.

4. Hermes offered Baucis and Philemon any wish they would like.

5. Philemon’s two wishes were that his cottage (house) be turned into a temple to worship the gods everyday in.His second wish was that himself and his wife would grow old and die together so they didn’t have to be lonely.

6. There were three examples of metamorphosis in the story. First, Zeus and Hermes disguised themselves as strangers while going down to Earth to check on everyone’s kindness and hospitality. The second was the cottage (house) turning into a temple which was a reward from Zeus and Hermes. The third, when Baucis and Philemon died, transforming into trees so they could be together forever, was also a reward.

7. The lessons in the story was that friends and family are more important than materials and such, and doing good things can benefit you.

8. I think we treat strangers very poorly now, but we have our reasons. Some people don’t want to let strangers in their home because they could be serial killers or something. If Zeus and Hermes arrived in my neighborhood without disguises on, they would be let in because of their looks. If they arrived in my neighborhood with disguises on, they wouldn’t even be allowed on their lawn!

9. I know my aunt would invite a stranger into her house. She does it all the time, and the strangers usually try to be the most respectful and kind guests.

10. I think the theme in the story “Baucis and Philemon” is that generous people are rewarded. An example of this would be that since Baucis and Philemon were granted one wish because of their hospitality and Baucis and Philemon wished for their cottage to be turned into a temple of worship to the gods and because of that they were still granted one more wish. Another example would be that Baucis and Philemon had worked really hard to make Hermes and Zeus a wonderful meal, they refilled the wine bowl for Philemon. My last example is the last wish, when Baucis and Philemon had wished to die at the same time so neither of them would have to be lonely. When they died the Gods turned them both into trees so that they could both be together forever.
